Forming Ideas was a professional development programme devised and delivered by an ArtProjects and Solutions to meet Arts Council England’s national craft strategy. The programme broadened and strengthened debate around contemporary craft practice, helped establish new international networks and offered curators international research opportunities in Cairo, all five Nordic countries and Brazil. website www.formingideas.co.uk

Ann worked as part of a team of researchers to scope opportunities for and the needs of the visual arts sector in the South West.

Arts Council England (South West)
ArtProjects and Solutions & Kurator.org established a Curatorial Network for curators living and working in the South West of England. The initiative included incoming international residencies for curators, seminars, outgoing international research visits and an interactive website.

Arts Council England (North West and West Midlands)
Ann was commissioned to research and deliver a research visit to Japan for curators of design and craft, visiting makers, designers and curators in Tokyo, Kanazawa and Kyoto.

Arts Council England (London)
Ann was commissioned to research, plan and deliver a research visit to of New York for a group of young curators from the Global Majority.

Arts Council England (National) and British Council China
ArtProjects and Solutions was commissioned to evaluate the financial and operational performance of UK/China Artists Links.

Arts Council England (Yorkshire, North East and North West)
Ann was commissioned to research, plan and deliver international research visits for curators across the Greater North region. Research visits included the Czech Republic to research studio glass and work for the public realm; a visit to the Venice Biennale and a 15 day visit to China to include the Guangzhou Triennale, Beijing and Shanghai.

Over nine years Ann was consultant advisor for the Bombay Sapphire Foundation and Academie Noilly Prat running The Bombay Sapphire Foundation ran an annual £25k Bombay Sapphire Prize and a two-year sculpture commissioning programme for Noilly Pratt.

British Council China
Ann worked with the British Council China, advising them on the format and delivery of curatorial exchange visits that were part of their Connections through Culture programme.

British Council Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)/Arts Council of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Ann worked as part of a team of UK curators on the joint British Council/Arts Council KSA initiative Contemporary Collective in teaching and mentoring a group of emerging Saudi female curators.

Contemporary Glass Society and International Festival for Glass
Ann worked with both organisations to identify ways in which they might strengthen their business models and work more effectively and closely together.

Creative Industries Network
ArtProjects and Solutions designed and delivered a visioning day for the staff and board.

Ann evaluated Creative Somerset’s performance including a series of cross disciplinary participatory arts events delivered by collaborating organisations for the Jubilee and Olympiad celebrations.

Ann worked as an assigned coach for participants on MA’s Leadership programmes

The National Glass Centre
Ann was Associate Creative Director at the National Glass Centre between 2001 and 2003 during which she expanded the exhibitions programme into contemporary art and design, established international working partnerships and residencies and touring partners. She undertook a feasibility study for the Centre into the development of their exhibition spaces along with a fully researched funding strategy

Norfolk and Norwich Festival
ArtProjects and Solutions implemented and managed the transfer of Creative Partnerships Phase II into the Norfolk & Norwich Festival, including negotiating the funding agreement with ACE East, re-structuring the team and setting out terms of reference for a new board.

Northlands Creative Glass
ArtProjects and Solutions undertook a funding feasibility study for North Lands Creative Glass which underpinned their ten-year strategy. All recommendations were implemented and the organisation received 70% uplift in revenue funding

Norske Kunsthandwerke
Ann worked with Norske Kunsthandverke over 3 years on curating and delivering conferences and publications exploring issues relating to contemporary crafts: Craft and National Identity; Museum of Skills and Craft and Social Change.

Ann worked with Turning Point South West in delivering mentoring to organisations looking to work collaboratively with others.

University of Lincoln – Project Director 1215.today & Lincoln Voices Artist & Residencies
Ann developed, fundraised (over £1m) and delivered a cultural programme marking 800 years since Magna Carta and The Charter of the Forest.

Victoria and Albert Museum
ArtProjects and Solutions used their knowledge and global network to work with the Victoria and Albert Museum in developing The Jameel Prize, a coveted international award for artists who reference Islamic traditional art and craft in their work.

Visual Arts South West Network
With associate Mariam Sharp, Ann undertook research into the feasibility of holding a sustainable and ambitious visual arts event in the South West of England. The research resulted in recommendations for a capacity development programme using innovative digital tools.

Spike Island Printmakers
ArtProjects and Solutions with the Board and Director on the organizational development of the workshop, involving growing its membership, income generation and leadership succession.

Visiting Arts
Ann was Associate Head of Visual Arts at Visiting Arts for 5 years from 2000, a post she shared Camilla Canellas during which time they designed and delivered international professional development programmes for artists and arts managers, alongside awarding funding support to organisations in the UK bringing international work to British audiences. They created ground-breaking programmes: Artist to Artist´ with the Henry Moore Foundation and co- ÁrtSchool Palestine´with support from the British Council and the Qattan Foundation and artist residency programmes with Delfina Studios, Spike Island and Fabrica, Brighton.

Ann and Camilla initiated and ran management projects and research visits in Cuba, Colombia, the Russian Federation, Middle East and Iran, China and across Europe working with foreign governments and ministries and other partners such as the Soros Foundation (Open Society Institute) and the Ford Foundation.
